On Wednesday, the ACC made official what had been leaked last week: The conference is going to move to a model of playing 18 conference games instead of 20. The move gives every team in the conference the flexibility to add two more non-conference games, with the hopes of teams in the upper echelons of the league to schedule at least one more marquee game to help their record come March.
The move did come with a bit of a change than what was expected. Instead of moving to the model that the women are currently use, the conference is going to still keep one primary home and home partner, rotate through another team with a home and home, and then not play one team in the conference entirely.
