Not with a bang but a whimper.
The regular season slid out from beneath the Tar Heel men’s basketball team on Saturday night, somewhere in between the throngs of somber blue-and-white-clad fans fleeing the Smith Center and the regular season sweep at the hands of the Blue Devils. It stole out almost without fanfare, carrying with it the momentum of a five-win streak and wholly unburdened with the promise of a long postseason; no more than one chill breeze among the many other late-winter winds that swirl over the sidewalks and parking lots around the Dean Dome.
Now, every game in front of the Tar Heels could potentially be the last time we see this team.
