UNC Baseball: Heels cruise past Crusaders

The UNC baseball team defeated Holy Cross 4-0 in their opening game of the NCAA tournament. Playing at home in the Chapel Hill Regional, the Heels stifled the Crusader offense behind a dominant pitching performance from ace Jake Knapp.

Knapp nearly went the distance, lasting 8.1 innings while allowing only four hits and no runs. Knapp struck out eight batters and was seldom challenged, not allowing more than one hit in any inning. Holy Cross only truly threatened to score in the sixth inning, when a walk and a single put two runners on with no outs. A sac bunt advanced the runners to second and third but Knapp got a fly out before striking out the final batter to end the danger.
