Field Hockey
An unassisted goal from Gab Major in overtime gave the Tar Heels its 19th ACC title and handed Syracuse its first loss of the season. Casey Di Nardo put the Tar Heels up 1-0 in the first half but the Orange responded after halftime to tie the game.
In overtime UNC goalkeeper Shannon Johnson deflected a penalty swipe from Syracuse's Roos Weers to keep UNC alive. The Tar Heels took possession and in a scrum in front of the Orange goal, Major pulled the ball away from Syracuse goalkeeper Jess Jacko and put it into the back of the goal for the win.
