Triangle Timehop: Today in local college basketball history

March 16, 1957: North Carolina knocked off Syracuse 67-58 to get to the Final Four, where the 1957 Tar Heels would finish off an unbeaten season and win the program's first (or second, depending on who you ask) national title. Lennie Rosenbluth was the hero, as he often was, with 23 points, but point guard Tommy Kearns wasn't far behind with 22. (WRAL Sports Fan)
