CHAPEL HILL – Four-time defending ACC Tournament champion North Carolina has been picked as the 2020 ACC women's lacrosse preseason favorite in a vote by the conference's head coaches, the league announced Tuesday.
The Tar Heels received 62 points in voting from the ACC coaches, and Syracuse was second with 52. Notre Dame was third in the poll, followed by No. 4 Boston College, No. 5 Virginia, No. 6 Virginia Tech, No. 7 Duke and No. 8 Louisville.
UNC also tied Syracuse for the most selections to the Preseason All-ACC Team. Four Carolina players grabbed spots on the 17-member team: senior attacker Katie Hoeg, redshirt junior goalkeeper Taylor Moreno, junior attacker Jamie Ortega and junior defender Emma Trenchard.
