CHAPEL HILL - The North Carolina women's basketball team has added Dazia Powell for the upcoming 2017-18 season, announced on Thursday by head coach Sylvia Hatchell.
Powell, both a McDonald's All-American nominee and an academic all-conference selection, is a 5-10 guard from Raleigh's (N.C.) Millbrook High School and club programs: Carolina All-Stars, Hoop Dreams Athletics and NC Zoom.
“Dazia is a strong, versatile guard that attacks the basket, finishes well with contact and competes at both ends with her ability to score and defend,” said Hatchell.
Powell averaged 14.0 points, six rebounds and six assists in leading Millbrook to a 4A state championship during her 2016 junior season.
