Six Tar Heels have been named to the U.S. squad for the upcoming Vitality Hockey Women's World Cup, set for July 21-Aug. 5 in London. The current and former UNC players make up a third of the 18-member team for the event.
Selected for the U.S. team were two members of the 2018 UNC team, rising senior Ashley Hoffman and incoming freshman Erin Matson. Also named to the U.S. roster were Carolina graduates Jackie Briggs, Lauren Moyer, Caitlin Van Sickle and Julia Young. It's the second World Cup appearance for Briggs and the first for the other Tar Heels, all of whom are U.
