Freshman Mauricio Pineda has been named to the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week for his efforts last week in leading the second-ranked North Carolina men’s soccer team to a pair of 3-0 victories to open the 2016 season.
Pineda and his back line mates limited its two opponents to a combined one shot on goal, including holding Saint Louis to zero shots on Sunday evening.
The freshman from Bolingbrook, Illinois, also scored his first collegiate goal for the Tar Heels on Sunday against the Billikins.
Fellow freshman teammate Cam Lindley earned consideration for the team of the week by TDS.
