Julia Dorsey tied the game with 2:09 to play in regulation and Maggie Pierce scored her first career goal late in the first overtime to give No. 5 North Carolina a 2-1 women's soccer win at Boston College Sunday.
The win, Carolina's and head coach Anson Dorrance's 899th all-time, lifts UNC to 10-1-2 overall, 3-1-2 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. UNC is 5-0 on the road this season. The Eagles fell to 6-6-7-1, 0-6-0.
Pierce, a junior midfielder from Cary, N.C., gathered a loose ball outside the penalty area and blasted a shot that beat Eagle goalie Wiebke Willebrandt to the upper right corner for Carolina's third overtime victory of the season.
