It’s official: UNC running back Omarion Hampton has been selected by the Los Angeles Chargers with the 22nd overall pick in the NFL Draft. Hampton is the first Tar Heel off the board, giving Mack Brown what is likely his last first round draft pick ever.
It’s awesome to see Hampton get drafted this high in the draft, especially after what was a pretty tumultuous season for UNC. With a third-string quarterback leading the offense, a beaten up offensive line, and a wide receiver corp that was merely okay compared to previous years, Hampton was able to shine as bright as Carolina fans could’ve hoped.
