GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina wrestling 165-pounder Joey Mazzara has been named to the 2022-23 All-ACC Wrestling Academic Team, the conference announced Monday morning.
In order to be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must have a 3.0 grade point average in the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative mark during their academic career. In addition, the student-athlete must compete in at least 50 percent of their team's matches. This is the sixth-straight year UNC has posted a wrestler to the academic team.
On the mat, Mazzara spent a majority of the season as the Tar Heels' starter at 165-pounds, winning 12 matches.
