North Carolina forward Erin Matson has been named the 2021 NCAA DI Player of the Year by Bolster Field Hockey.
Matson, a senior from Chadds Ford, Pa., led the nation in 2021 with 27 goals (1.59 per game) and 64 points (3.76 per game). She tied for 12th in assists. Her points total is 15 ahead of any other player, despite having played in only 17 games due to an injury that sidelines her for three.
No other player in the nation ranked in the top 20 in both goals and assists.
