CARY, N.C.—Jamil Roberts scored in the 60th minute to lift Marshall to a 1-0 win over North Carolina in the NCAA College Cup semifinals on Friday night at Sahlen's Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park.
Marshall took the lead at the 59:37 mark when Roberts scored off assists from Vitor Dias and Milo Yosef on the Thundering Herd's only official shot of the game.
The Tar Heels had more than one close scoring opportunity in the final 30 minutes but could not find the back of the net.
Five minutes after Marshall's goal, a shot by UNC's Giovanni Montesdeoca hit the crossbar.
