Now the basketball season can officially begin.
Roy Williams launched the 2018-19 season in traditional fashion on Tuesday morning, hosting his annual Fast Break Against Cancer breakfast.
The event benefits the UNC Lineberger Cancer Center and had raised $2.4 million to fight cancer prior to this year. The 2018 event, with ticketholders seated on Roy Williams Court to hear from Williams, master of ceremonies Jones Angell, and guest speaker Mack Brown, will add significantly to that total, with four live auction items bringing in nearly $50,000 and the silent auction total still being tallied to supplement ticket sales and sponsorships.
