Junior righthander Joey Lancellotti struck out five in five and a third innings and added two hits and two runs batted in and freshman catcher Eric Grintz had a pair of two-run doubles in his college debut to lead the University of North Carolina to a 15-3 win over Middle Tennessee Friday at Boshamer Stadium.
The game was the first of the season for both teams. The series resumes Saturday at 2 p.m. and concludes Sunday at 1 p.m.
Lancellotti (1-0) made his fourth career start, allowing just two hits and two runs in the longest stint of his career in 56 collegiate appearances.
