Jake Knapp named National Pitcher of the Year

Jake Knapp was named the National Pitcher of the Year by the College Baseball Foundation on Friday. He is the first UNC pitcher to be named baseball’s best since Andrew Miller back in 2006.

Knapp had a rough 2024, missing all of last season due to injury. He considered leaving for the MLB draft but ultimately decided to come back for this year, and he’s been dominant since then. Knapp appeared in 16 games, 15 of them starts; the Heels won every single one of their games he appeared in. Knapp finished with a perfect 14-0 record that was the best in the country.
