MINNEAPOLIS --- North Carolina divers Bryan Allen and Emily Grund competed at the 2019 USA Diving Winter Nationals this weekend at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center. Allen, a senior from San Jose, California, competed in the men's platform competition while Grund, a sophomore from Keller, Texas, competed in the women's 1-meter springboard.
After being unable to compete in the 3-meter springboard due to illness, Grund put together an outstanding performance in the 1-meter to advance to her first senior-level finals. Grund's preliminary and quarterfinal score of 225.60 was good for ninth place, highlighted by a forward 2-1/2 somersault pike in her second dive.
