SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Balanced scoring and staunch defense earned the third-ranked North Carolina field hockey team a 4-1 victory over No. 13 Syracuse Friday afternoon in an Atlantic Coast Conference battle at J.S. Coyne Field. The Tar Heels led 4-0 on goals by four different players before the Orange got on the board with a penalty stroke with 44 seconds to play in the game.
UNC improved to 10-2 overall and 4-0 in ACC play with the win. The Tar Heels stay in New York for the weekend to take on UAlbany in Albany, N.Y., on Sunday at noon.
