Famous UNC Office Chair Raises Big Money

The annual Fast Break Against Cancer breakfast this past Friday raised more than $200,000, and the featured auction item was an office chair once used at Carmichael Auditorium by Dean Smith and later given to fellow Tar Heel Hall of Fame head coach Sylvia Hatchell when the men’s team moved to the Smith Center in 1986.

Bidding began at $1,000 for the Carolina blue leather chair and ultimately went to winning bidder Dr. Mark Graham for $15,000. A former oncologist at UNC Lineberger, Graham also treated former NC State Hall of Fame head coach Kay Yow with her battle with breast cancer.
