WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Sara Daavettila and Alle Sanford picked up a victory on Thursday in the opening round of the NCAA Doubles Championship at the Wake Forest Tennis Center.
Listed as the first alternate in the event, Daavettila and Sanford were added to the 32-team doubles field when Duke's Kelly Chen and Samantha Harris were a late scratch on Thursday morning.
The Tar Heel tandem defeated Texas Tech's Sarah Dvorak and Sabrina Federici, 6-2, 6-4.
