Tar Heel senior Brent Clark has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the league.
A team captain and business major from Naples, Fla., Clark helped lead the 10th-ranked Tar Heels (4-0) to two homecourt victories last weekend in ITA Kickoff competition. In a 4-1 win over No. 50 Indiana on Saturday, Clark and doubles partner Robert Kelly won 6-4 in the No. 1 spot and he also picked up a singles win at No. 3. Clark won in the same two spots on Sunday against No. 40 NC State, defeating the Wolfpack’s top doubles team 6-0 and then beating NC State’s Ivan Saveljic 6-4, 6-2.
