Tar Heel junior Meredith Bozentka placed 18th in women’s sabre at the 2017 NCAA Fencing Championships, which wrapped up on Sunday at Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis, Ind.
“I’m proud of her and pleased with how she did,” UNC coach Ron Miller said. “It was a really tough field in all weapons.”
Bozentka’s performance earned UNC nine points and a team finish of 24th overall. It marked the 50th year in a row that Carolina has had at least one fencer qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Bozentka, an environmental studies major from Philadelphia, was one of 23 Atlantic Cost Conference fencers who competed at the NCAA Championships.
