CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Cameron Leary hit a grand slam in the eighth inning, and No. 20 Boston College defeated No. 18 North Carolina 9-4 on Saturday night for its first series win over the Tar Heels.
The Eagles, who won the series opener on Friday night 9-8 in 10 innings, were 3-31 all-time against UNC and 0-17 in Chapel Hill before this weekend.
UNC starter Connor Bovair pitched 7.1 innings of one-run ball before hitting Travis Honeyman with his 100th pitch. Boviar, who retired 11 in a row at one point, was charged with two runs while scattering five hits and striking out three.
