GREENSBORO – North Carolina freshman guard Cole Anthony was named the ACC's Player and Freshman of the Week Monday. ACC men's basketball weekly honors are determined by a vote of a 15-member media panel and announced on Mondays throughout the regular season.
Anthony averaged 27.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.5 steals in North Carolina's two games during the season's opening week, a 76-65 home win over Notre Dame and a 78-62 win at UNCW. He set an ACC record for the most points by an ACC freshman in his college debut with 34 Wednesday against Notre Dame, and he added 11 rebounds and five assists.
