PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Freshman Jessie Aney of the North Carolina women’s tennis team advanced through Prequalifying this weekend at the 2015 Riviera/ITA All-American.
Aney, one of three Tar Heels participating in the prequalifying round, won a pair of matches on Saturday, and then topped Monica Robinson of Notre Dame in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, to move into the qualifying bracket that begins on Tuesday.
The Rochester, Minn., product began Saturday with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, victory over Stefania Hristov of Texas A&M. Later in the day, Aney defeated Mai El Kamash of Ole Miss - 7-5, 6-3.
