North Carolina linebacker Andre Smith was selected with the 16th pick of the seventh round (234th overall) by the Carolina Panthers on Saturday. The 5-foot-11, 239-pound linebacker, who announced his decision to enter the NFL Draft early and forgo his senior season in December, started 17 games at middle linebacker and finished his UNC career with 187 tackles, two sacks, and two interceptions.
