Back in the days of the Les Robinson Invitational and even before than in the 1980s, the #1 vs #8 game was a cake walk for the top seed. There were multiple instances of UNC rolling the #8 seed in the noon game on Friday to open the ACC Tournament.
That's no longer the case with parity and conference expansion, the #1 seed faces a potential NCAA Tournament team in the quarterfinals.
