#9 Tar Heels Prevail In Defensive Battle Versus #6 Tigers

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina women’s soccer team won a defensive battle against Clemson 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Fetzer Field, allowing the Tar Heels to move into a tie for fourth place in the ACC standings with the Tigers.

After losing three straight games, ninth-ranked Carolina had a good home weekend, beating 15th-ranked Notre Dame Thursday 2-1 and sixth-ranked Clemson 1-0 Sunday. The two wins improve UNC to 13-3-1 overall and 6-3 in the ACC while the Tigers fell to 12-3-1 overall and 6-3 in the ACC. All three goals UNC scored in the two wins this weekend came after the 70th minute of the game.
