North Carolina's 3 Most Likely Bowl Destinations

North Carolina became bowl eligible with a win over rival Duke, sending them back to the postseason. The Tar Heels knocked off Cincinnati in the Belk Bowl a season ago - where will UNC be playing this year?

Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl (AAC vs. Army)

Fri., Jan. 2, 12:00 p.m. ET

Amon G. Carter Stadium, Fort Worth, TX

There aren't enough bowl eligible military schools to fill this spot, so they might look to the ACC to fill the void. North Carolina is at the bottom of the barrel among the ACC's bowl eligible teams, so they might not have a choice as to where they get to play.

Sun Bowl (Pac-12 vs ACC)
Sat., Dec. 27, 2:30 p.m. ET
Sun Bowl Stadium, El Paso, TX

The Sun Bowl will feature two teams that middled around their respective conference standings, but this will still prove to be a good game. The problem with the Sun Bowl is that fans rarely want to travel to El Paso to play a team from the other side of the country, and North Carolina fans are no different. That said, UNC has a nationwide fan base, so there will still be a good turnout where ever the Heels end up.

BITCOIN St. Petersburg Bowl (ACC vs. AAC)

Fri., Dec. 26, 8:00 p.m. ET

Tropicana Field, Tampa, FL

North Carolina would like to play a team from another power conference, but this is their most likely scenario. They’ll get to face a team with a better record – likely UCF or Cincinnati – and a trip to Florida is something fans would enjoy.
