To the surprise of many, rumor has it that the North Carolina Tar Heels may leave the ACC shortly to join the B1G.
The Tar Heels are one of the founding members of the ACC, a conference which they have thrived in both athletically and accademically.

But given the movement towards power conferences and multi billion dollar TV deals the Tar Heels might find the most lucrative opportunity for them in the B1G who is actively looking to expand this year.
The B1G just added both Maryland (a former ACC team) and Rutgers (Formerly in the Big East) and are rumored to have their eyes on several more ACC schools as well.
Apparently the B1G almost added Georgia Tech a few weeks ago, but no deal has been done yet. Alas, the B1G is still in talks with Georgia Tech and may add them with several other schools in the coming weeks.
In addition to UNC and Georgia Tech, the B1g has its eyes set on the Texas Longhorns and the Virginia Cavaliers.
