NC State’s complete inability to prevent Virginia Tech from getting to the rim was its undoing Wednesday night—the Hokies scored over 50 points in the paint on the way to a comfortable 85-75 win over the Wolfpack. Tech’s smaller lineup presented problems that State never could solve.
The game started well enough, and the game was even at 15 after eight minutes thanks to a fast start from Omer Yurtseven, but the rest of the half was a struggle for the Pack while the Hokies continued to find easy basket after easy basket. A 14-1 Virginia Tech run beginning around the eight-minute mark of the first half pretty much put State away for good.
