Former NC State All-American Shortstop Trea Turner hit the first Grand Slam of his MLB career last night.
Turner’s first career slam was only part of a historic night for him. He was 3 for 5, with 2 home runs, and 8 RBI. The 8 RBI tied the MLB record for RBI’s in a single-game by a leadoff hitter. They were also the second most in a single-game by a Nats player, regardless of place in the batting order (Anthony Rendon – 1 0).
The Nationals were down 9-0 in the 4th inning, but Turner wasn’t about to back down, nearly covering the deficit by himself.
