Former NC State Punter A.J. Cole is entering his 2nd season as the starting Punter for the Raiders. Cole showed up to camp last year as an undrafted rookie, with the job of beating out starter Johnny Townsend, who was taken in the 5th round the year before.
He beat out Townsend for the job, and served as Las Vegas’ starting punter in 2019, ranking 13th in the NFL in yards per punt (46.0) and 33 of them were downed inside the 20-yard line, which ranked 5th.
Cole is entering the 2nd year of a 3-year contract he signed with the Raiders last year, and his base salary in 2020 will be $675,000.
