Back in February, NC State requested $258,585 in restitution from convicted former Adidas executive James Gatto, as well as $23,900 for Dennis Smith Jr.’s 1 year of college tuition.
It looks like they will have to settle for a little bit less.
According to Steve Wiseman’s report in the News & Observer, Gatto has agreed to pay NC State $79,026.75 in restitution, as well as the $23,900 for Smith’s Tuition.
Total Restitution: $102,296.75
The understanding behind the restitution is that because Gatto and his team distributed the money unbeknownst to the University, the institution was set up to offer a scholarship to a player under “false pretenses.
