NC State is back to the NCAA Tournament and they’re in familiar territory.
This is the third time in 6 years that the Wolfpack has started off the Tournament in the 8 vs. 9 game. During the 2012-13 season, Gottfried’s group lost to Temple in that game, but two years later, they were back and beat LSU on a last second buzzer-beater by Beejay Anya.
That win sent NC State to the round of 32, where they met the #1 seed, Villanova.
As you remember, NC State pulled off a huge upset of Villanova in that game, and one of the big reasons why was the play of Malik Abu and Lennard Freeman.
