Smothers’ has rushed for 570 yards through the Wolfpack’s first 5 games, which ranks 1st in the ACC and 4th in the FBS nationally.
The gap between Smothers and the rest of the ACC running backs is substantial. He is averaging 114 yards rushing per game, and Mark Fletcher Jr. of Miami is averaging 97 yards per game, which is a 17-yard difference.
Smothers has logged 100-yard rushing performances in 3 of 5 games to start the year, which is tied for the 3rd most out of all Power Four schools.
