NC State’s 14 Hits Propel them to a 9-2 Win Over UVA in Game 2

When batting and pitching work in tandem, NC State proves hard to beat, as evidenced by today’s performance.

Sophomore starting pitcher Heath Andrews allowed only 2 earned runs while the Wolfpack offense produced 14 hits, their most since March 14th.

Andrews picked up his third win of the year (3-1), marking his second quality start. He gave up 2 earned runs over 6 innings, striking out 4 and walking 3. This win was his first since March 8th, bringing his ERA down to 3.95.

Junior Andrew Shaffner secured his fourth save—the team lead—by pitching 3 shutout innings and striking out 5, reducing his ERA to 2.
