College basketball teams are allowed an exhibition game prior to the start of the regular season, and they’re also allowed to scrimmage against another team, somewhat unofficially. These were once referred to as “secret scrimmages” since they were never publicly announced by the schools involved, but by now, everybody knows about all of them. So we can just call them what they are: closed scrimmages.
