NC State picks up wild ACC win over Clemson

When you’re running hot, you’re running hot.

N.C. State topped Clemson for its seventh straight ACC win, and 12th win in 13 games, with an unusual 3-2 victory over the Tigers on Thursday night.

The Wolfpack (32-21, 15-13 ACC) got the winning run after shortstop Joe Dunand scored on a wild pitch on what should have been the third out of the eighth inning.

Clemson (38-16, 16-12) reliever Owen Griffith gave up a one-out double to Dunand in the eighth. Brad Debo’s ground out to second base advanced Dunand to third. Griffith got N.C. State second baseman Will Wilson to strike out swinging, which normally would have stranded Dunand and ended the inning, but the pitch got away from catcher Kyle Wilkie and Wilson reach first safely and Dunand scored.
