The Wolfpack have played the Flames twice before, winning both games in Raleigh.
NC State won the first game of the series 85–50 back on December 17, 1990.

The Pack had 19 steals in the contest, which is tied for the second-most steals in a single game in school history. NC State also pulled down 54 rebounds, the third-most in a single game in school history.
