On Wednesday, NC State freshman Marie Eline Madsen became the first player in school history to win an NCAA Regional Championship with her 5-under, three-round performance. She is only the second player in program history to advance to the NCAA Championship and the first since Lauren Doughtie in 2008.
The Regional Championship marks her second win of the season, having previously won the ECU Ironwood earlier in the year with a 6-under performance.
In 21 tournaments this year, Madsen has 2 wins, 1 runner-up finish, 11 Top-20 showings, 8 Top-10 finishes, 21 rounds of par or better, and 11 rounds in the 60s.
