NC State welcomes Penn State to town Wednesday for the last set of games of the 2017 ACC-Big Ten Challenge. These are not your grandfather’s, father’s, or slightly younger brother’s Nittany Lions, no sir. These guys are in fact pretty good—perhaps good enough to reach the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2011.
Head coach Pat Chambers is in his seventh season at PSU and has yet to lead the program to the NCAAs, but the administration’s patience with him appears to be paying off. Chambers has built a solid, relatively deep roster that is still fairly young—three of its top four scorers are sophomores, and the fourth is a junior.
