There were unusual aspects to the NC State-Miami game on Thursday night, and I am not referring to the officiating. Take, for example, the fact that the Wolfpack finished the game -9 in the turnover category. It’s not easy to win a game against a decent opponent when you are operating with that sort of deficit.
But it worked out, somehow.
Miami went to the free throw line 29 times but made only 16 of its attempts. And NC State was dominant on the glass, grabbing over 47% of its missed shots. The Hurricanes grabbed nine offensive boards total, or less than 22% of their misses.
