TAIPEI, Taiwan – The NC State men’s & women’s swimming & diving team will be bringing another gold medal from the World University games back to Raleigh, as Ryan Held won gold in the 100-meter freestyle on day five at the National Taiwan Sports University.

Held’s time of 48.36 earned him gold, and was a tenth off his lifetime best achieved at the Olympic trials last summer.

Held was not the only NC State swimmer to impress on the day, as Kayla Brumbaum set a program record in the 200 breaststroke final. She was also unlucky not to earn a medal of her own, as her time of 2:24.
