Former Wolfpacker Nate McMillan named assistant coach for Team USA

Nate McMillan has been out there making NC State proud for years.

McMillan was a part of some pretty great NC State teams. Under the leadership of Jimmy V, Nate helped lead NC State to a first-place ACC regular season tie in 1985, and the Elite Eight in both the 1985 and 1986 NCAA Tournaments.

After being drafted 30th overall by the Sonics in 1986, McMillan logged 19 seasons in Seattle (as a player and a coach), getting the nickname “Mr. Sonic.”

After his career, he coached the Sonics (mostly successfully) from 2000-2005, went to Portland for 7 years before taking his current position as the head coach for the Pacers in 2013.
