There will be no March Madness this year. The NCAA announced on Thursday afternoon that it has decided to cancel all remaining winter and spring sport championships, which of course includes the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments.
The development became increasingly certain as the day progressed and conferences around the country suspended their basketball tournaments. The ACC suspended all of the league’s athletic-related activities prior to the NCAA’s announcement, and NC State released a similar statement this afternoon.
This is, of course, a huge bummer, and I feel disappointed for all of the athletes who won’t have the opportunity to pursue a championship this year.
