Dave Doeren decided to promote from within to fill the offensive coordinator vacancy on his staff. Running backs coach Des Kitchings and wide receivers coach George McDonald will share offensive coordinating duties moving forward. They will remain those position coaches as well.
Kitchings has actually been at NC State longer than Dave Doeren—Kitchings was hired by Tom O’Brien in 2012—and has earned the opportunity to call plays. He is one of the best recruiters on the staff and has been coveted by other schools. And he had accepted the head coaching position at Furman in 2016 before changing his mind.
