BTP The Offseason, Day 139: Sports outside of a bubble proving hazardous, not surprisingly

While the NBA, WNBA, MLS, and (hopefully) NHL are showing that the bubble approach to playing sports can work—even in Florida!—that’s not an option for college athletics, which is why those officials are no doubt watching MLB closely.

And it took all of four days for MLB to have a coronavirus crisis, as a significant portion of the Marlins tested positive while in Philadelphia, causing multiple games to be canceled. Even with a variety of safety measures in place, and no fans in the stands, obviously there are numerous ways players can be exposed.

If a 30-team league ends up not being able to make a season work, it’s hard to figure how college football—which includes a whole lot more players—is remotely feasible.
