AJC ran a piece ranking the ACC Athletic Programs for their performances in 2017-18, and according to their calculations, NC State is the #2 Athletic Program in the ACC this year.
Here’s how the rankings were formulated. If a team finished 1st place in the standings in a sport that 15 ACC teams participated in, they received 15 points, 2nd place received 14 points, and so forth. Then they took the total amount of points and divided it by the total amount of sports to get an average.
Overall
What’s impressive, is that the men’s programs didn’t have to carry the womens programs, or vice versa.
